The great paradox of AI Overviews is that Google is killing the very source that feeds it. If AI gives the full answer at the top of the search page and users stop clicking through to Reddit (or any other forum/site), people will stop creating content and platforms will lose traffic. In the end, the AI itself will run out of fresh, high-quality data to train on. Reddit is completely right to charge more or pull the plug.

Google wants its cake and to eat it too: train its AI on Reddit's wisdom (and chaos) while keeping 100% of the search clicks on its own page. If Reddit doesn't stand its ground now, it’ll end up as free algorithm food before long
