honestly removing location metadata from your photos doesn't really protect you anymore. McAfee put out a study showing AI can guess where a photo was taken around 87% to 91% of the time just by looking at what's in the background. things like road signs, the style of the buildings, plants, or even just a specific type of wall outlet are enough for a model to pin you down. from an OSINT and security perspective this makes target profiling ridiculously fast. instead of someone spending hours manually geolocating a spot like a GeoGuessr player, an automated script can scrape an entire instagram feed in seconds and build a map of everywhere you go. the scary part is how well this feeds into spear phishing. if an attacker knows you just posted from a specific hotel or city, sending a fake alert about a issue with your room booking or a credit card flag hits way harder because the context matches where you actually are. probably the easiest fix is just not posting travel stuff in real time. wait till you get back home before uploading, or at least double check what's sitting in the background of your shots before you hit post.
